NIOH’s aim is ensure collaboration on innovative practices that lead to the integration of oral health and general health across the lifespan.
We focus on identification, development, evaluation and translation of interdisciplinary models that integrate oral and general health within the following framework:
- Common risk factors – e.g. discretionary foods and drinks
- Disease specific risk factors – e.g. diabetes and cardiovascular disease
- Utilisation of non-dental professionals – e.g. pharmacists, general medical practitioners, primary care nurses, midwives, maternal and child health nurses
- Population groups – e.g. children, elderly, medically compromised, people with disabilities
